CHRISTOFLE SILVERSMITH - ANTIQUE PAIR OF CANDELABRAS IN SILVERED BRONZE - 19TH - FRENCH
Rocaille , with foliages and with a very nice sparkling and not common silvery sheen, these high candelabras will bring life and light to your interior.
Makers' mark of Christofle : 1862-1935
Charles Christofle ( 1805-1863 ), having managed a house of jewel trade founded the house of silversmith's trade bearing his name. Parallel to his success in the exhibition of the Products of the Industry of Paris, he acquired the patents of gilt and argenture by galvanoplasty from Ruolz, then from Elkington, process for which he obtained again the golden medal in the Exhibition of the Products of the Industry of 1844. Christofle became then the regular provider of the Royal family; success confirmed under the Second empire, where he is regularly rewarded in the World Fairs.
In his death, the house was kept by his son Paul ( 1838-1907 ) and his nephew Henri Bouilhet ( 1830-1910 )
