Useful object and\or work of art, halfway between both, such is the big contradiction of Memphis, but also its originality.
Designer of the 1980s, very appreciated from the creation of the creative Italian movement, Ettore Sottsass, leader of the movement named Memphis, knew how to be a real creator : architect by training, then designer playing with the production of furniture, lamps, ceramic, he also touched the silverware by daring to be avant-gardist. His major work is the one presented here: the fruit basket " Murmansk " consisted of a tray resting on 6 cylinders in zigzag, one from feet to nose in the industrial production.
