SILVERSMITH : Jean-Baptiste VERRIER - DESSERT FLATWARE SET (94 PIECES) IN ITS ORIGINAL OAK WOODEN COFFER - BETWEEN 1838-1848 - FRENCH WEIGHT : 5 KILOS PERIOD : THE RESTORATION THE FLATWARE IS COMPOSED BY : 18 DESSERT FORKS (about 18 cm) 18 CAKE SPOONS (about 14,5 cm) 18 KNIVES WITH NACRE HANDLES AND STERLING SILVER BLADE (about 19,5cm) 18 KNIVES WITH STEEL BLADE (about 19,5 cm) 2 CREAM SPOONS (about 21 cm) 1 SUGAR SPOON (about 21 cm) 1 SUGAR TONGS (about 16 cm) As the mark minerve was instituted in 1838 and the king Louis-Philippe left the throne in 1848 , it is easy to say that this service was created betweeen these 2 dates. The gilt-silvered forks and spoons have a violoné tip, bordered of a thin line which goes on till the cuilleron or the fourchon. The tip is decorated of a stylised shell and flowers patterns. The knives of which the blades are rounded, with mother-of-pearl handles have a rocaille gilt-silvered collar and end.
